Announcements:
- Thank you team 2 for breakfast
- Eugene has emailed information to each member regarding a trip to Portugal. This trip is being organized by Diane(Dills)Ellis former Vermilion Rotarian and she is dedicating this trip to Art Boggs to commemorate the 25th anniversary of a Rotary project she did with Art. She will ensure that our club receives $100 per person for every booking. For more information please refer to the email dated Friday January 3, 2020 and if you did not receive it please contact Eugene.
New Business:
- Mary Lee received a letter from Rotarian Craig Brown informing her that he is moving and will be leaving the club. He gave her a list of the different positions he holds that will need filling and these positions have been filled. Flag Chair-Erwin Warkentin, Casino Chair-Mike Webb, AED’s-Mary Lee and Eugene are looking into this, E-Transfers-Darlene Barlow, Gmail account-Mike Webb and Eugene Wasylik.
- Vermilion Outreach School-Rotarian Lisa Beveridge suggested that we ask the students at the Outreach School to assist with some of projects that we do that involve physical work and heavy lifting. We assisted them this year with their breakfast funding and perhaps they would like to give back by helping the club with some of the tasks that require younger backs. We will look into this possibly for garage sale assistance.
- 2020/21 Youth Exchange-Kirby Whitlock reported back to the members about the status of the potential youth exchange student he brought forward at our meeting on December 19/19. Lindsay Bates, Principal of JR Robson School contacted Kirby and stated that they would accept a student into their school as long as they register by the end of June. Paperwork for the outbound student is now in motion, and she is being interviewed this Saturday to see if she will be accepted into the program. The parents of the outbound student are from Cold Lake and so this does present a few challenges that are new to the club. Her parents have agreed to house an incoming student if need be, but this would have to be during non-school days. They have also agreed to attend and assist with our Garage Sale to meet some of our club members. We are also thinking of hosting a social night and invite them as well. Funding for this exchange will be done as if the student was from Vermilion. The family lives in Cold Lake and there is no rotary club there, this is what prompted them to seek the exchange program from outside of their own town. We should know by the end of February if we will be getting an inbound student and at that time arrange for billeting. Rotarians hoping to interact with the exchange student will need to have their criminal record check done.

- Mary Lee officially proposed Parth Parma to become a member of the Vermilion Rotary Club with a decision to be made in a month.
Sargent report- Erwin fined Mike & Mike for talking during the meeting and he asked that those with a new goal or resolution for the year to share
