Project Fair VIII - Quayaquil, Ecuador

Rotary District 4400 (Ecuador) hosted Project Fair VIII in the coastal city of Quayaquil from Oct 12 to 14 where 25 Ecuadorean Rotary Clubs proposed humanitarian projects and asked for a Global Grant partnership and/or financial help from representatives of US Rotary Clubs in attendance. 

The projects targetted needs in one or more these important focus areas identified by The Rotary Foundation:

1) Water and Sanitation 2) Basic Education and Literacy  3) Disease Prevention and Treatment  4) Economic and Community Development  5) Maternal and Child Health  6) Vocational Service   

Each presentation focused on the need being met and how many people would benefit. 

The Mid-Cities Pacesetters Rotary Club has supported projects in Ecuador for several years.  In 2012-2013 we are continuing long term partnerships with Quito based Rotary Clubs in Economic and Community Development (micro-credit loans), Water and Sanitation (bio-filters - clean water), and Maternal and Child Health (Children of Ecuador - orphans).  In prior years we have supported Basic Education and Literacy (elementary school subsistance scholarship and computer lab equipment), Disease Prevention and Treatment (hospital expansion), and Economic and Community Development (vermiculture - worm farm).

Binnie and Bill Bracken attended the fair to personally present our club's checks for the three current efforts and to learn about new areas where we might assist in the future.
