This year's Open World delegates were a special group of individuals. We thought it would be a good idea if you got to know them better. This week we are profiling Magdalena Teresa Mikulska...
Magda is 37 years old, married to Marcin with a six-year-old son and a four-year-old daughter. She graduated with a degree in Psychology from the University of Gdansk and post graduate degree from SWPS University of Social Sciences and Humanities. She speaks Polish, Italian, and English. Her hobbies include photography, arts, books, gym, and beautiful shoes. Even though she is a vegetarian, and also gluten & lactose-free, she always found something delicious to eat while here in Texas. Her work career position is a Psychologist, Coordinator, and Team Leader for Holistic Support Center after the Loss of a Loved One (eMOCja) (www.centrumemocja.pl). In her daily work, she develops substantive support programs for people in bereavement, and also train a team of psychologists as a team leader. She co-runs a support group for parents after a miscarriage, which is important because in Poland a miscarriage is a socially unrecognized mourning. On her daily job, she also works as a psychologist with parents in the Tulipani perinatal hospice whose children will die in the womb or shortly after giving birth, making them accustomed to this traumatic event. She also continues psychological therapy with them after their child dies. The awareness of Poles.
Maga was a genuine sweetheart. Beautiful, inquisitive, intelligent, and stylish. She greeted you each morning with a big hug, which made you feel very special. She continues to keep in touch through Facebook and hopes some of us will visit Poland next year.......
