In Memory of Kayla Belle Christianson

Dear Rotarians,

PDG Kayla Belle Christianson was an extraordinarily passionate Rotarian. She was an active member for fifteen years and served as the President of the Abilene Rotary Club and District Governor of Rotary District 5790 in 2021-22. As a member of the Rotary Club of Abilene, she was a strong and vocal advocate for supporting The Rotary Foundation.

Kayla passed away after a brief illness on August 2. 2023, In memory of her lifetime of service to Rotary, her family has agreed to permit District 5790 to use her remaining Rotary Foundation Recognition Points to help spur contributions to the charity she worked so hard to promote - The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International, specifically to the Polio Plus Fund.

So, for a limited time starting on August 10, 2021, District 5790 will do the following:

Using Rotary Foundation Recognition Points generously donated by Kayla Christianson’s family, we will match contributions of new cash made to Polio-Plus during Rotary Year 2023-24 on a 1-to-1 basis in amounts of $250 to $500 for any active Rotarian in District 5790 who is not yet a Paul Harris Fellow +8. 

Please note: These matches are limited to one per donor and will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis until August 30, 2023, or the match pool is exhausted with ever comes first. Match requests received prior to March August 10, 2023, will not be accepted.

The rules are simple: If have a Recognition Amount less than $8,500 you are eligible to participate. Simply email me at smilesrotary5790@gmail.com and let me know how much you are contributing to the Polio Plus fund– the amount must be between $250 and $500. 

Then, either donate directly to the Rotary Foundation by going online at www.rotary.org (please be sure to log into My Rotary before donating) or mailing your contribution (using the attached contribution form) to The Rotary Foundation, 14280 Collections Center Drive, Chicago, Illinois 60693. You can fax your form to +1-847-328-4101 or e-mail the form to rotarysupportcenter@rotary.org

As soon as your contribution posts, I will release your match.
