Rotary is much more than just a weekly club, a lunch meeting or community service group.

Rotary is a way of life; and Rotary can change lives!

In becoming a Rotarian one must become engaged in the support, goodwill and improvement of society at both the community and global level.

Our main objectives to becoming an effective Rotarian must be to:

·       To maintain a commitment to the ideals of “service before self”

·       To maintain high ethical standards in our day to day activities.

·       To foster the advancement of international understanding, goodwill and peace.

·       Encourage and foster the ideals of ‘service’ as a basis of our daily lives

·       Encourage and foster the development of friendships and networks as an opportunity for service.

All that we do must be measured against the ‘Rotary 4-way Test’

The 4-way test is a mechanism used to establish if a planned action is compatible with the Rotarian spirit and ideals.

The 4-way test considers the following questions in respect to thinking, saying or doing.

·       Is it the truth?

·       Is it fair to all concerned?

·       Will it bring goodwill and better friendships?

·       Will it be beneficial to all concerned?

In closing here are some fitting words of engagement from William Arthur Ward,

·       Do more than belong: Participate

·       Do more than care: Help

·       Do more than believe: Practice

·       Do more than be fair: Be Kind

·       Do more than forgive: Forget

·       Do more the dream: Work

Let Rotary become your way of life!
