Hello From Belgium

even still, i dont have many new things to tell you. ive been going to school and actually learning french and for the first time in my life, doing my homework (i know, i still cant believe it either). i went kayaking with all the other exchange students and had a great time, even though by the end it was no longer called the descent of the lesse (hte name of the river) but due to the experiences of myself and a few others, the "descent directly into the lesse"! i did forsee this however, and wore a swimsuit, and brought a change of clothes (well everything but the pants, but lauren, also from canada had a dry pair to lend. hurray!) and i actualyh realized that i really like kayaking, and i may do it again sometime, but probably here, because the river is only waist deep at best!

i also went to a belgian discotheque, and realized that:a) i cant dance very wellb) the belgians cant dance at all, andc) if you ever go to a belgian discotheque, bring your own water, etc. 4 euros for a can of coca cola!? insanity! I also was mistaken for being dutch two times in one day! i decided to take it as a compliment, because it doesnt seem to be an insult, and apparently i made enough sense in french for them to not automatically assume i was from the usa. today, i met another group of exchange students, but notfrom hgh school, from the university. generally all the students from rotaryand the other exchange programs (afs, wep, lions, yfu, lots of independents,etc) come to liege on wednesday afternoon when we have no school(wednesdaysa half day here!) and we all hang out at the carre, a student filled cafe district. we were there and i was with a norwegian and an american and this girl about college age comes up and says:excuse me, i could hear you speaking english and was curious, who are you and where are you all from. it was really funny and we all introduced ourselves, and it turns out one was from admonton, one from calgary and one from ontario! it ws great because there arent many canadians, not near me anyways, and none from alberta! they even knew where gp is! i was so excited, and invited themto join us on wednesdays, and have a chance to actually speak english for a full afternoon. so my business cards actually came in handy there. well theres no more news reallyto tell, i have a few trips that i am trying to plan and ill write once i have definite plans, but other trhan that ive just been going to school and trying to be belgian! i miss evryone very much and i really appreciate all the letters ive recieved, keep writing, i like to hear from everyone!
