District Assembly is Coming Up

Your District Training Team has been active planning the fall Assembly and Leadership Training for District and Club Leaders for the 2006/07 Rotary year. The program promises to better than ever, as it helps support District and Club leaders for the many and varied challenges that lay ahead. Mark down September 22/23 in your calendar! A slate of speakers has been arranged that will help educate and inspire Rotary leaders and eager to learn more about Rotary. District Governor Ed Willson, fresh from his intensive training in Anaheim, will outline the theme, vision, District Leadership Plan and expectations of the RI President for 2006/07. Dave Robinson, Chairman of the Canadian Rotary Committee for International Development will be the keynote address on Saturday at the luncheon. Rotarians will be provided with opportunities to talk and share ideas with others, throughout the district. The assembly will provide District and Club Leaders with a rare opportunity to plan and share "Rotary" with their team. To that end it is encouraged that Clubs register as many members as possible and do this soon. Friday evening, September 22nd, you can attend either the Membership Session hosted by Shirley Lowe or the TRF (The Rotary Foundation) session hosted by Brent Collingwood who will be joined by guest speaker Leigh Higginbotham, the Regional Rotary Foundation Committee Chair from Vancouver. Come a bit early and enjoy a BBQ dinner and some fellowship before going into the sessions. The program on Saturday September 23rd includes interactive sessions that will allow all Rotarians to share and learn more about the many aspects of Rotary and really get geared up for a fantastic 2006/07 year. District Leaders will be there to facilitate "breakout" sessions on the various club portfolios, as well as provide valuable information through the display booths that will operate throughout the day. Some of the topics include:  How HAWS Happens  Future directions for district level international service through WCSS  Certification of 5370 youth exchange program  How to benefit from the new District Office  The Webcom Centre  The District Charitable Foundation  District Awards  Public Relations Strategies for your Club  Great Fundraisers  And more⿦⿦. All session are at the Chateau Louis Hotel & Conference Centre, 11727 Kingsway Avenue, Edmonton.
