A Letter from Perth: Hello from Perth!!!! Well the Dream Team is alive. We played our first game yesterday after the opening ceremonies against Meaford from ontario who we beat last year quite easily. But this time around it was a disaster. lost 9-3. i think we all curled about 25%. Duncan was really struggling.
We had a Great Time last night at host reception. presented our gift to the mayor, etc. i stayed out a way too late. got to bed at 330. We played at 1015 this am and Won 13-2 over Lake Placid USA. we all curled really well. Ice is really keen here. So we are 1-1. Next up is Grimsby who are also 1-1. We play at 330 (830 your time). 2 years ago they beat us. Not this year though. i am very tired from sweeping. we sweep every rock from end to end. three teams are 2-0. Perth, Strattford and Ayre who are really strong teams. Update: well we Won so we are now 2 Wins!!!!! 1 loss. my best 2 games today but exhausted. 3 teams are 3-0 and we have not played them. we play them wednesday and thursday. Steller won 9-1 so they are 3-0. we play at 8am tomorrow and again at 1pm Cheers!!! Oh and it is snowing here.

Ok day 3. Game 1.
Duncan and I have been struggling with sleep. I have not had 1 night when I have managed to get more than 2 hrs a night. Makes for long days especially with all that sweeping. I am so stiff and sore.
Well today we had to play at 8am. We started the day at 2-1. Our first game we played against ForFar(scotland). We played really well. They took 1 in the 1st with last shot(skip made a hale marry shot otherwise we would have got 5). We took 1 in the 2nd. We stole 1 in the 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th to go up 5-1. They took 1 in the 7th. Then came the 8th. Well as we have a commanding lead we only need to run them out of rocks. Myron playing 3rd missed a takeout so they r laying 2 with a guard up front. They draw in for 3(oh crap I said -well I said more than that). Duncan misses his 1st shot so they have open draw for 4. They throw it threw the house (thank god). We take out 1 rock they score 2 and we win 5-4. Duncan curled really well.
Game 2: team Perth St John. We were ready and came out of the gates flying. We scored 3 in the 1st with last rock. Stole 2 in 2nd, 1 in 3rd, 3 in the 4th. They got 2 in the 5th. Score ended up 13-4.
Rock On!!!! We r now 4-1. Huge games tomorrow. We need to win both games to b 6-1. That should get us into the top 4 and a shot at the playoffs.
Tomorrow is a tough Day. We play Simcoe at 1015am then Perth Kinnoe in the pm. Every day from here on in is huge. We cannot afford any loses. Thursday we play the 2 best teams. Ayre scotland and stratford
Day 5 and final round robin. jeff keddie and i are about ready for a new body. really keen ice here so you sweep every rock (oh and because all of us seem to pinch the broom).\ We were up against Ayre Scotland who were also 6-1 like us. 2 years ago they beat us in the round robin 11-1. then we played them in the final and we beat them 12-1.
We did not come out of the gates this am. they stole 2 in the first, we scored 2 in the 2nd, they scored another 2 in the 3rd end(could have been 4 if we had not made a great take out and role), in the 4th they stole another 1. Now 5-2. We scored one in the 5th. in the 6th they scored 1 now 6-3. in the 7th we had to measure but we scored 2. we finally buried a rock behind cover and held it until skip rocks. Duncan tried to bury another one for 2nd shot but was light. skip had draw to button for the win but was heavy so we tied.
We are guaranteed 4th for sure. our last game is Stratford from Ontario who are 7-1. If we win we take first place if we lose we could end up 4th.
Continuation of Day 5 Game 9-Final Round Robin Game. This am we tied so we were at 6-1-1. Our last game is against Stratford Ontario who were at 7-1.
Started off with a steal in the first end. they scored 1 in the 2nd end. We kept the house clean.
In the 3rd end after a couple of double take outs and they missed their double we scored 2. now 3-1.
In the forth we kept the house clean as much as we could but a couple of half misses with 3rd rocks left them with 1 in the 4th. now 3-2.
The 5th end was huge for us. i had a double takeout with a roll to the four foot. this left our rock behind cover in front of t-line on 4 foot. we went back and forth. their 3rd missed his shot and after our 3rd shots we were sitting 3. they tried a raise on their yellow but left it open for a hit by duncan. they then tried a soft hit on our rock in the 8 foot then rolled over but rolled out into the open. this left Duncan with a hit for 4. score now 7-2.
In the 6th end we kept the house clean and in the end they scored 1. The 7th end after a couple of double takeouts Duncan was left with a draw to the button. we scored 1 and were up 8-3.
In the 8th we cleaned house until 3rd rocks then drew first 3rd rock at top of house. They tried to draw around but were light. Duncan raised our rock to the button leaving it guarded and counting 2. they tried to draw for 1 (game was already over) and missed leaving us 2. We Won 10-3! Better yet this gave us First Place!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WE play in the semifinals tomorrow at 10am against Meadford from Ontario. We played them in our first game and they trounced us 9-3. That was our only loss.
So Day 6. Playoffs. We were up against Meaford from Ontario who beat us in the round robin. Our only loss.
Meaford had last rock and blanked the first end. We were in trouble after lead rocks but a few takeouts and we change the end around. 2nd end we had the end set up nice to steal 2. Their skip had last rock and caught a tiny piece of our rock but rolled out and we stole 1.
3rd end we went back and forth and forced them to take 1. Game tied 1-1.
4th end we had a mess of rock all sitting around the 4 foot with guards up front (duncan does not like a lot of rocks around). We were lying 1 with a rock touching the button. 2nd stones we removed a guard then next shot drew to button just behind T-Line. 3rd rocks they all tried to draw up but racked. Their skip last rock drew on top of our one just behind t-line. Duncan's only shot was to draw to button. He did that. Their skip tried to draw up to this one but was outside. We threw our last one through the house as we could not get 2. We scored 1 now game is 2-1.
5th end we removed rocks but had a couple on the 12 foot. Our first Third stone we drew to top of 12 foot covering our back rock on 12 foot. They tried to make 2 doubles and only removed 1 each time so we drew to 4 foot. They drew but left open so we hit and stayed. We measured but scored 3. Score now 5-1.
6th end after 2 missed lead shots we were in trouble again. After 2nd and 3rd shots we were lying 1. They blanked this end.
7th end we went back and forth and left them with a hit for 1. Score now 5-2.
8th and final end which always seems to be when we fall apart.
So we throw our lead rocks through the house. They throw 2 guards. Their 2nd draws to top of house so I remove it. Their seconds last stone he was light and ended up as another guard on top of their other 2 guards.
My last shot I remove 1 of their guards. They drew behind their guard. We ran their guard. They drew in now counting 2. Our last 3rd we missed again they drew in laying 3. Duncan tried for a double. Left them laying 2. Here we go again.
They draw in so duncan goes after their rock at 12 foot. He removes 2 and we win 5-3!!!!
We are in the Final! Against Ayre from Scotland. We played them in the Final 2 years ago when we won this event.
We tied them in the first round.
Going to be a barn burner! Play at 2am 7am ur time.
