What is a Purple Pinkie donut?
In countries where the threat of polio remains high, every child under 5yrs. receives polio vaccine by mouth twice per year during events called “National Immunization Days.” To document which child has received vaccine, every vaccinated child has the pinkie nail of their left hand painted with an indelible purple marker. Local communities recognize that children with “Purple Pinkies” will never get polio which is cause for great celebration. Over time the “Purple Pinkie” has become the international symbol of a polio free world. To raise awareness and funds for the continued effort to eradicate polio, Rotarians from this area are partnering with Dunkin’ for the seventh annual "Dunkin' Purple Pinkie Day" Polio.

Success of the program is driven by Rotarians and friends who pre-order 10-count boxes of “Pinkies” for a $25 donation. One box of donuts will generat $187.50 in donations to Polio Plus. Every dollar that is donated is multiplied 7.5 times before being delivered to End Polio Now with the additional funds from Rotary Districts and The Gates Foundation.
We will take pre-orders starting today, September 11th, and continue until Thursday October 3rd. The boxes of donuts will be picked up by members during our regular meeting on 10/23/2024. Payments should be made out to Rotary Club of Liberty.
You may submit orders at our regular meetings(order forms available), online(register for event and leave order in comment box), or by email (send email to PatKnauss.Rotary@gmail.com). Help us raise another Million Dollars for End Polio Now!
