March 28th we have our last opportunity to help with the Food Mobile. Sign up and help from 3-5 in the parking lot at The Hillcrest Hope thrift store.
Planning for the annual Butt Buster event is in full swing. The committee is looking for sponsors for the event. Take some time and contact people or companies that you know. Asking for their support for our youth programs will only take few minutes of your time. Let's show our support for this project.
It is that time of year that we collect new shoes to benefit Shoes for Orphan Souls. This is the 22nd year District 6040 has participated and made a far reaching impact because of your generosity. Shoes have been spotted on sale at your local Wal-Mart stores. Stop by and pick up a few. This project wraps up April 28-29 at the District Conference.There is still time to SHOP.
The runners will be passing by Rotary Plaza from 8am to 10am. Stop by the plaza and cheer them on!
Committee Update: Youth
The Scholarship Application Review Committee reviewed 150 applications and now is passing the baton to the Interview Committee. Eleven students will be interviewed on Monday, March 13th and Scholarship Recipients will be determined. The LPS Community Scholarship Awards Ceremony will be on Monday, May 1st from 5-7 pm at Liberty North High School. At that time, we can announce the winners! Please join us at the Ceremony if you can.
On June 14th, we will invite ALL of our scholarship winners (new as well as ones currently attending college) to join us for lunch.
Thanks to all who have been involved in this process: Jim Waterman, Dan Gordon, Jennifer Rodgers, Gary Rodgers, Julie Gilmor, Doreen Scarborough, Karin Shaughnessey, Jodi Sundaram, Reed Hastings and Justas Norvilas. It was nice to have so many new Rotarians help with this process.
Now to the Butt Buster to raise the $22,500 in funds for these scholarships and all of our youth programs (RYLA, Youth Exchange, Interact Clubs, etc.). -Wendy
Committee Update: Shoes for Orphan Souls
This will be the 22nd year of collecting shoes. This year shoes will be going to Guatemala and the Dominican Republic. The goal is to collect 15,199. If we can achieve this goal, we will eclipse a cumulative amount of 400,000 pairs of shoes over these 22 years.

Rotary Crew has cleaned, painted, repaired, and replaced furniture/fixtures.
Hillcrest staff is currently looking for a family for our apartment!
As we planned for this Rotary year, I could have never "imagined" the breadth of stories we would encounter nor the scope of the people we would meet.
I find oxygen in sharing time with our members — hearing their truths and learning about their personal journeys and their deepest desires for goodness.
And so it was that I encountered two very different men with very similar stories.
