Club News: January 12th, 2022
Fellow Rotarians,

* This  week we will have an "Administrative" meeting to set up our committees for the year, so put your thinking caps on and  plan how you would like to participate in the future!   The goal is to have 100% member participation in the operation of our club and its projects.  The plan to achieve our goal is to have "Committee" meetings the 2nd Wednesday of the month during our regular meeting time which will be followed with the Club's Board meeting from 1pm to 2pm.  This will give members time to participate without having to have spend extra time outside of our regular meetings.  This Wednesday members will help define and setup four main standing committees (Administrative, Youth, Service, and Butt Buster) using our "enhanced" ClubRunner committee software.

* Next week's speakers are Charles Brown and Ari Penner from the Ronald McDonald House Charity of KC. They will tell us about how they keep families together during times of illness and what volunteer opportunities are available.

Hope to see you Wednesday.

Dustin

JANUARY: Vocational Service Month

Shekhar Mehta, RI President 2021-22

January 2022:     One of Rotary’s founding principles was to use your vocation — whether as a doctor, lawyer, engineer, or another profession — to do good in the world.  As we attempt to overcome and recover from the pandemic, this principle is vital in retraining people who have lost their jobs. In response, the Rotary E-Club of Tamar Hong Kong organized seminars for young people, with the aim of preparing them for the changing world of work.

This type of training must happen on a large scale. According to the United Nations, global unemployment is expected to exceed 200 million people in 2022. Women and youths are likely to be disproportionately affected.

Rotary District 6710 Relief Fund
Dear Rotary Members in Zones 30 and 31,

Rotarians are People of Action. Throughout the world in disaster recovery situations, our compassion and commitment to service are a significant part of relief efforts.

Right here, right now, your help is needed here in our own zones.

The tornado that touched down in Kentucky has devastated communities in 18 counties in our District 6710. The loss of life in many small towns, such as Dawson Springs and Mayfield, is heartbreaking, and survivors have lost their communities, their homes and livelihoods. In many areas, there is limited electricity, resources for food, gasoline and supplies and medical services. Now more than ever is the time for us to live our hashtag, #Rotary Responds.

Rotary District Governor Gail Story and the leadership of District 6710 are in the process of assembling a committee to identify needs and coordinate response across affected areas.

Here’s how you can help. District 6170 can now accept tax-deductible donations for hurricane relief.
