Club News: November 24th, 2021
I wish you all a happy and safe Thanksgiving week!  Whether you are traveling or staying close to home, I hope you have the opportunity to spend time with those you love.  There is much I am thankful for this year, not the least of which is being a part of Liberty Rotary.   I am thankful for the wisdom and support shared with me by past presidents and other experieneced members of the the club.  I am thankful for the growing number of in-person faces at the weekly meetings.  Finally, I am thankful for our newest group of members, who have all stepped up with such energy and enthusiasm. I hope you will take some time this week as well and take inventory of all you have to be thankful for.

Giving Tuesday November 30, 2021
Mo is a therapy dog who's job is to help students across different schools in St. Joseph have a better educational experience, regardless of whatever challenging and traumatic curves life throws at them.

Mo's presence in Northern Missouri was made possible by a District Grant from The Rotary Foundation.

Giving Tuesday for this year is on Tuesday, November 30, 2021. This is the Tuesday following Thanksgiving. Giving Tuesday is a global day of giving worldwide, and the impact we can have by sharing the story of Rotary's positive outcomes is tremendous.

Think of the impact we could have in District 6040 if everyone made The Rotary Foundation even a small part of their Giving Tuesday this year. Whether for the environment, access to clean water and sanitation, for mothers and children, for community and economic development, for peace, for literacy, or for fighting disease, everyone's support, however small, makes a real difference.

To support the impactful projects of The Rotary Foundation this giving Tuesday 11/30, please visit http://Rotary.org/donate, and then share your Rotary story on social media using the hashtags #givingtuesday and #rotary.

Sincerely,
Erik McGuire

Service Project: Food Mobile

In September 2021 our club started a new service project working with Church of the Resurrection's "Food Mobile" truck.  The Food Mobile visits food "deserts" in the KC area and will be parked at Hillcrest Hope Thrift Store on the 2nd Tuesday of the month from 3pm until 6pm. People in these "desert" areas typically are low-income and have to travel farther to find healthy food options. The Food Mobile provides hungry people in the Kansas City area with fresh, nutritious food and a dignified shopping experience. Our club volunteers help with registration of guests, assisting with shopping, and re-stocking the Food Mobile between stops.
