D6040 Foundation Dinner:  Step back in time to the Roaring 20's and celebrate Rotary D6040's Foundation Dinner on November 7 at the Madrid Theatre in Kansas City.  Our Club is sponsoring two tables this year so we can properly support our very own DG Jodi Sundaram.  There are 20 seats up for grabs at $150 per seat, but don't wait too long as 10 seats are already taken!   Click on the image to register for your seat! Your support of The Rotary Foundation supports impactful projects locally and globally while also offering a great chance to connect, celebrate, and build relationships across our district.
Shoes for Orphan Souls Update:   We are well on our way to reach this year's goal, 2,500 ...but we need to keep our "foot" on the gas pedal!   Keep your eyes out for more fun and games to support this project.   Happy Dollars in August go to this campaign.

Rotary Plaza Update: We are creating a committee to lead the charge in developing a plan of action to add an Annex (storage shed) to the open area directly west of the Pavilion (at the north end of the driveway)at Rotary Plaza.  If you have been in the Pavilion, you know how badly we need additional storage space!  We already have some people tagged for this committee but if you are interested contact Pat Knauss.  Planning will start in August.

Polio Plus Update:   The goal for club Polio donations at $3,000.  Members can go to RI.org and send donations directly.  You can also send your check to the Rotary Club of Liberty at 100 W Franklin St Liberty MO 64068.  We have also set up a donation campaign on the club website where you can use your credit card, click on the EndPolioNow logo to the left to access.

Local Photographer Captures Images from Rotary Plaza
One of the regular visitors to Rotary Plaza, Jenita Kennedy, has shared with us some of her photographs of the Plaza and its "inhabitants" and we have started a photo album to share the photographs.     We know there are other talented photographers in the area and encourage them to share their "top picks" in the album as well.  Send your submissions to info@libertyrotaryclub.org

After the Texas Floods, there is an outpouring of compassion & care

Rotary members lend their support to flood victim

By Geoffrey Johnson

In the hours before sunrise on 4 July, more than 10 inches of rain fell on Kerr County, Texas, USA. By some estimates, it added up to 100 billion gallons of water, more than the daily flow of water over Niagara Falls. The torrential downpour caused the Guadalupe River to rise 36 feet, killing at least 108 people and damaging thousands of properties.

In the days that followed, as he stepped in to lend a hand in the recovery, Larry Agee met a survivor who was distraught and still in shock. “He’d lost everything,” Agee said. The man was fixated on one loss in particular: The tall flagpole in front of his home had been swept away and he desperately wanted it back.  In the aftermath of the flooding in Texas, Larry Agee (right) and his son, Adam, raise a U.S. flag along the Guadalupe River. Courtesy of Vanessa Agee
