Club News: January 5th, 2022
Fellow Rotarians,

* We are back at Liberty United Methodist Church Rush Creek facility for our meeting this Wednesday at 12noon.  Our speaker will be Michael Sandy, Director at Martha Lafite Thompson Nature Sanctuary.

* Next week we will have an "Administrative" meeting to set up our committees for the year, so put your thinking caps on and  plan how you would like to participate in the future!   The goal is to have 100% member participation in the operation of our club and its projects.

Hope to see you Wednesday.

January 2022:     One of Rotary’s founding principles was to use your vocation — whether as a doctor, lawyer, engineer, or another profession — to do good in the world.  As we attempt to overcome and recover from the pandemic, this principle is vital in retraining people who have lost their jobs. In response, the Rotary E-Club of Tamar Hong Kong organized seminars for young people, with the aim of preparing them for the changing world of work.

This type of training must happen on a large scale. According to the United Nations, global unemployment is expected to exceed 200 million people in 2022. Women and youths are likely to be disproportionately affected.

Global Scholarship Grants 2022

District 6040 is getting ready to start a new cycle for Global Scholarship Grants for students traveling in the 2022-2023 academic year (AY23) and Rotary fiscal year. The AY23 academic year would include travel for fall of 2022 through the spring and summer of 2023.

The District 6040 Global Grant Scholarship committee would like to ask you to notify your membership about these opportunities. While these scholarships are not available to Rotarians or their families, one of the best approaches is to identify key college and university contacts who may be able to inform students.
