Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora z. Kreshnik Ahmeti hosted the president of Rotary International organization Dr. Shekhar Mehta at a meeting.
Welcoming him to the Republic of Kosovo, the Deputy Minister has presented the country's achievements in various fields as well as for future development plans. Meanwhile, Dr. Mehta has talked about Rotary activities around the world as a global network of 1.2 million members who come together and take action to create sustainable change. Being that Dr. Mehta is an Indian, he has also talked about the aspect of bilateral relations with this respected and important state when even the contribution of Mother Teresa was mentioned across the globe.
For the Rotary activities in Kosovo, it has been underlined that it has helped hospitals, schools, various institutions, brought clean water around the country, supported the youth for education, healed over 250 Kosovo children with heart problems , has acted for a clean environment, and so is awareness on the importance of service to the community. Dr. Mehta mentioned the possibilities of deepening cooperation and actions that Rotary can take in the future by undergoing concrete projects in the fields such as education, health and peace or conflict management.
At this meeting, the president of Rotary was accompanied by his wife Mrs. Rashi Mehta, President of Rotary Representative for Kosovo and Albania z. Radu Popescu, Chairman of the Rotarian Council in Kosovo Mrs. Fleta Baraku, Secretary of the Rotary Council in Kosovo z. Ismail Baftjari and Member of the Rotary Council in Kosovo z. Ardian Hoxha. On the other hand, Deputy Minister Ahmeti accompanied the Advisor-Senior Officer for training and development z. Enis Xhemaili and the Leader of the Staff Division z. Vigan Berisha, both rotarians.
All participants unanimously committed to forward the issues discussed in the meeting so that they can be realized in the future. The meeting ended with a donation of a gift with Rotary characteristics from Dr. Mehta to Deputy Minister Ahmeti.
