Welcome Tom Dailey As The First Speaker in June, Bio Below:

Tom Dailey was sworn in as Independence, Missouri’s Chief of Police in 2008.  Prior to taking leadership of the Independence Police Department he retired from the Kansas City, Missouri Police Department after 27 years of service and served in numerous capacities in all of the Department Bureaus as well as being the Department Critical Incident Commander.  In addition, he serves as the Kansas City Chiefs Critical Incident Commander and Resident Security Agent for Major League Baseball.  He served in command capacities at the 1996 Atlanta Summer Olympics and the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympics.

As Chief of Police in Independence, his priorities have been focused on lowering crime and disorder.  The Department instituted the Crime Overview Response and Evaluation process (CORE), which focuses on intelligence-led policing and the use of analysis to develop target-oriented strategies; Community Oriented Problem Solving (COPS) to include all facets of the community and government in addressing chronic problems that lead to crime and disorder; and has developed the Strategic Policing Plan to focus on coordination, accessibility, prevention, and sustainment.  He serves on numerous boards including homeland security, law enforcement and community organizations.

Chief Dailey holds a master’s degree in Homeland Security and Defense from the Naval Post Graduate School in Monterrey, California and a master’s degree in Public Management from Park University.  He attended the Federal Bureau of Investigation National Academy in Quantico, Virginia.

He has been involved in coaching at different levels for years and currently coaches a summer collegiate baseball team.  He has been married to Karen for 36 years, has two children and one granddaughter.
