Jack Figg, plant manager of Alliant Techsystems Inc. (ATK), brings our program for Tuesday, October 7th.  ATK is an aerospace, defense, and sporting goods company with its headquarters in Arlington, Virginia, in the United States. The company operates in 22 states, Puerto Rico, and other countries. ATK booked about US $4.78 billion in revenue for the 2014 fiscal year.

History:  ATK  was launched as an independent company in 1990, when Honeywell spun off its defense businesses to shareholders. The former Honeywell businesses had supplied defense products and systems to the U.S. and its allies for 50 years, including the first electronic autopilot that enabled B-17 aircraft to accomplish pinpoint bombing missions during World War II.

The Independence MO Lake City Army Ammunition Plant  the Lake City Army ammunition Plant is a 3,935 acre government-owned contractor-operated facility. Remington Arms established the plant in 1941 and the facility has remained in continuous operation except for one five year period following World War II. As of July 2007 the plant produces nearly 1.4 billion rounds of ammunition per year. In addition Lake City perform small caliber ammunition stockpile reliability testing and has ammunition and weapons testing responsibilities as the NATO national and regional test center.  ATK has operated the plant since 2001. Our Independence plant is the single largest producer of small arms ammunition for the United States Armed Forces.
