Michael Curry is the Director of Emergency Preparedness for Jackson County.  He is a Level II Certified Emergency Manager through the state of Missouri.
He has had disaster relief experience in Nashua, Bahamas, Belize, Central America, Curacao, Dutch Antilles, and coastal Florida. He served as the liaison between the Upjohn Pharmaceutical Company and the US Air Force to delver emergency pharmaceuticals to Latin America and coastal United States.
 
 Michael serves on the Public Safety Commission, the Regional Homeland Security Council, and also co-chaired the Regional Home Security Special Task Force. He is a member of the MEMC and LEPC committees and assists as an advisor to the Medical Reserve Corps. He is a member of the Integrated Warning Team and Missouri MOP3. He currently is Gov. In the last seven years, his department has been awarded 6 National Awards including 3 National Finalist Awards from FEMA/Citizen Corps for “Community Preparedness.” He  received the prestigious IAEM National Award for “Partners in Preparation” based upon the FBOI shelter system in Eastern Jackson County. Recently he received the National Award from the Alliance Group for “Innovation for Community Preparedness” for the Jackson County Mass Feeding Plan (45,000 people 3 meals a day).
