On July 20th the new District Governor, Elly Contreras-Vermeulen, visited Fort St John and attended a joint supper meeting of the Sunrise and Afternoon Clubs.

DG Elly was on hand to tell the Club's what her goals were for the year, to give us a quick bio on her busy life, and to tell us about upcoming District Events.  Travelling with her was her husband Ramiro.  DG Elly was introduced by our local Assistant District Governor Chuck McDowell.

Some of the goals that DG Elly presented to our Club were:
â¿¢ Net increase in membership of 1
â¿¢ Complete a PR project
â¿¢ Involved with a Water and Literacy Project at the Club or District level
â¿¢ Award a minimum of one Paul Harris Fellowship
â¿¢ Have a minimum of four members of the Club attend the District Assembly and District Conference

The District's World Service Project for this year is to assist orphanages in Siberia.  DG Elly has visited these locations and was able to put a human face on this problem.  The District's goal is to raise $100,000.

DG Elly also presented a well crafted information video extolling next year's District Conference in Stony Plain next May long-weekend.
