I went to Bad Säckingen, Germany in 2005/2006. I was living in the Black Forest and attended school in the town I mentioned, right on the border of Switzerland. I absolutely loved it, especially learning German and making friends who I still talk to! I go to San Francisco State university now and am majoring in Spanish with a possible ultimate goal of being an optometrist (that's my semi-concrete goal..but I'm still not sure!!...I just want to speak Spanish and help people!!!). Right now I am studying abroad in Santiago, Chile. I have been here since July and I love it. I was able to do a good amount of traveling during our summer break and also participated in the eye care mission, which was an amazing experience. I was in Ecuador when the big earthquake hit Chile but now that I've been back for about a month I am taking advantage of all the volunteer opportunities. I went to a town south of Santiago this past weekend and I am leaving again Wed night until Monday morning to do the same thing but in the 8th region of Chile, the region of Concepción, the major city with the most damage that's getting most of the press.

I return to California in July...I'm not sure how long I will be in Redding before I move back to SF, but maybe I could try and pull something together!! I always enjoyed making it to the meetings anyhow!

Here is the link to my online web-gallery where I put pictures of my travels...in the Ecuador album towards the end there are fotos of the volunteer work I did. I will try and get pictures up by next week of the volunteer work i've been doing here in Chile for the earthquake victims. You can take any pictures from there you want!

Sincerely,

Kari
