Today's meeting was brought to us by Team 4 and team captain Eric Smith.

President Menoher thanked Marge Beck for her fitting tribute to Virgil Weld at his recent memorial service.  In the true spirit of Virgil, his family presented each attendee with a cork screw/church key, which was a favorite item for Virg to collect.  He will be truly missed by Redding East Rotary and all those who know him.

Allyn Clark reminded everyone about the District Conference. There is still time to register!

October birthdays, anniversaries and such were celebrated.  The special birthday for the week was our exchange student Hannah's 17th!  Happy Birthday to all.

The slate of officers for the 2011/2012 Rotary year is as follows:

President - Allyn Clark

President Elect - Chad Thompson

Treasurer - Steve Pitman

Director, Community Service - Jim Fieder

Director, Membership Services - Chris Haedrich

Director, International Service - Brian Crume

Andy Main announced the Palo Cedro Park fundraiser this Saturday from 2 to 6 p.m.  He donated $25 to the scholarship fund in memory of Virgil Weld.

Brian Crume was named "Best of Northstate Chiropractor".  He paid $100.

Dr. Yoder is back from yet another trip out of Redding, this time to Hawaii, after the Minnesota visit.  He visited his new grandson and oh yes, his daughter was thrown in as an afterthought.  The son-in-law final got mentioned at the end!  He paid $50.

It seems that Chris Haedrich and his buddies won the Chamber of Commerce Golf Tourney and $125 each.  He paid RER ½ of his winnings for the honor of being recognized.

Randall Hempling went to Barstow where and brought back a Rotary flag.  He apparently got a promotion at work and now oversees new facilities.  For that big promotion and trip the fine must have been large because the editor missed the amount.

Parent's weekend in England at Oxford cost Shannon Phillips $100.  Her son is studying at Oxford and made the basketball team.  While on the 16 day trip she managed to visit Spain and Scotland as well.

The 50/50 was up to $376 but Sue Metcalf didn't pull the right marble.

The Community Builders for this week were Jim Stull and Don Hoard from the Shasta Jr. Wolves Football program.  Jim was in attendance to receive his award.  He has no kids on the team, but has coached for a few years now.  He said that it was people like coaches that turned his life around and he wanted to give back!  Thank you Jim!

Steve Hosler gave his Craft Talk.  He's a graduate of the University of Bowling Green, was in the Peace Corps in Micronesia and traveled around the world for two years before settling down and ending up in Los Angeles and at Yosemite National Park working in human resources.  He then moved to Kawai and for some reason left there and came to Redding.  He has been the HR Vice President for Catholic Healthcare West, with 2500 employees of which 80% union.  He is also the Executive Director for Shasta Senior Nutrition and Golden Umbrella.

Today's presenter was Dr. Don Schepps, a local surgeon and owner of Hair Transplant West.  He gave a very interesting presentation on hair transplants and the reasons for baldness, all while our more "hair" challenged members sat in the front row!  They were all good sports and might just take Dr. Schepps up on his offer of a free consultation to those in attendance.  He also graciously donated $100 to the scholarship fund in memory of Virgil Weld.

The gift was won by somebody!

Next week's presentation will be by Dennis Bambauer on "Life in an Internment Camp."
