District 6040 Governor: Carl Chinnery, Lees Summit
2002-2003 was an enjoyable and productive year for Club #32. Bob and Vikki Crouch traveled to Barcelona, Spain to attend the Rotary International Convention. During the convention incoming president Bhichai Rattakul challenged Rotarians to "Sow the Seeds of Love". Other notable events included speeches by Mikhail Gorbachev, former secretary of the Soviet Union, and comedian Jerry Lewis. The first class of Rotary Peace Scholars was introduced.
Pat Lile, executive secretary of Club #32 retired June 30, 2002 after 15 years' outstanding and devoted service to the Club. Mary Ness became executive secretary of Club 32 on July 1, 2002. During her first year of service, Mary has endeared herself to the membership, has embraced the ideals of Rotary, and has become an integral part of the Club. .
District 6040 sponsored "Shoes for Orphan Souls" for the second year in August 2003. Club 32 distinguished itself by having collected the most pairs of shoes of any club in the district for the second consecutive year. For 2002, Club 32 Rotarians collected more than 1,100 pairs of shoes which were later shipped to orphans in Russia. .
Other service projects during the year included Salvation Army Bell Ringing at the North Belt Wal Mart store, assistance during the Salvation Army's school supply distribution day, entertainment of the Pickett School orthopedic class, Career Nursing Assistants day, Students in Government Day, and a winter clothing drive. .
