Edmonton South Rotary Club distributes 270 hampers to the homeless!

On Sunday June 28th, Edmonton South Rotary Club teamed up with the St. Theresa's - St. Vincent DePaul volunteers to distribute 270 hampers full of toiletries for the less fortunate residents of Edmonton's inner city. The day started slowly at 12 noon but as the neighborhood was filled with the smell of hamburgers on the BBQ and the crowd grew despite the sweltering 30°C heat.
The people that came were very appreciative of the contents of  the bags and also for the bottled water that we added at the last minute. We quickly ran out of water and then another inner city agency that was distributing cold water and snacks from a van stopped and unloaded their remaining supplies - because the homeless seemed to be all at the BBQ anyways.
Thank you to Maria from St. Theresa's for allowing us to piggyback on their BBQ to facilitate the distribution.
The left-over hampers were distributed to the Women's Emergency Accommodations Centre and the YESS - Youth Empowerment & Support Services for their homeless support programs.
