We need your help to feed hungry Edmontonians!

Riverview Rotary heard that Edmonton's Food Bank is experiencing a shortage of donations -- food and funds. We have committed $5,000 to this wonderful organization and the cheque is already making its way there now.

We're asking your help in matching our donation and sending another $5,000 to Edmonton's Food Bank that does so much for so many.

Our club has a long history of serving meals to Edmonton's needy, whether they are the children and families who belong to our inner city school communities, or they are disadvantaged seniors struggling to meet their basic needs. But, on a daily basis, people in our city are hungry, and Edmonton's Food Bank is there for them. Visit the website of Edmonton's Food Bank to learn more.

The Edmonton Gleaners Association is more commonly known as Edmonton's Food Bank (or the Edmonton Food Bank). The mission is "to be stewards in the collection of surplus and donated food for the effective distribution, free of charge, to people in need in our community while seeking solutions to the causes of hunger."
While some people access services directly from Edmonton's Food Bank, the organization is a central warehouse and referral centre for more than 250 agencies, churches, and food depots including: Bissell Centre, Crystal Kids, Hope Mission, Operation Friendship Seniors Society, The Salvation Army, Metis Child & Family Services Society and Our House Addiction Recovery. These agencies receive food from our warehouse to assist their clients.
- Was incorporated as Canada's first food bank on January 16, 1981, as the Edmonton Gleaners Association.

- Serves over 20,000 people per month through our hamper programs, of whom, approximately 40% are children under the age of 18.
- Clients, on average, access Edmonton's Food Bank less than 4 times a year.

-Collected, sorted, repackaged, and redistributed 4.2 million kilograms of food in 2016. The approximate value of this food is $23,100,000.
- Is a recognized teaching facility for Concordia University's Environmental Health Program.
-Is accredited under Imagine Canada's Standards Program for showing excellence and compliance in five key areas of operations: board governance; financial accountability and transparency; fundraising; staff management; and volunteer involvement.
Thank you! Edmonton's Food Bank appreciates the support we receive from our volunteers, partners, and donors.
