Tim Marriott shared his passion for "Protocol" with club members. It's a bit like manners, but beyond that. At a government level, there are strict "protocols" that countries and states (and provinces) follows. In fact there is the "Vienna Convention" on diplomatic protocols that 190 countries adhere to. In Tim's role in the Alberta Protocol Office, his primary responsibilities are with protocol around diplomatic visits, state visits and Royal visits. This includes things such as travel, logistics, security, but also managing flags and invitations to official functions. Many of the events Tim is involved with occur at Government House, the ceremonial home of the Alberta Lieutenant Governor (currently that is Salma Lakhani).
