Inner City School Projects

Each year the Riverview Club carries out projects and two high needs, inner city elementary schools. The programs at these schools have evolved over the years, and the COVID period introduced further challenges to the Club’s ability to deliver hands on projects.

 

At the Norwood Elementary School, the Club serves an annual breakfast and dinner for students and their families. These dinners are often held at the beginning of the school year (to welcome students back) and at report card time to encourage greater attendance. The Club also has a history of organizing special outdoor education events to Rocky Mountain House.  Past projects have also included the construction of a playground and providing musical instruments for their music program.

 

Delton Elementary School, our second partner school, we have a dinner/breakfast program as well. Our outdoor program at Delton has been focused on providing a fur trade experience at Fort Edmonton Park, which links to the grade 4 social studies curriculum.  We are looking at offering a new student experience this year by bringing a petting zoo to the school grounds.
