Student Adventure & Leadership Programs for 2014/2015

 
Riverview Rotary has a great line-up of Adventure Programs for High School students this year.  Rotary’s Adventure and Leadership programs provide an incredible benefit. Students can broaden their outlook, increase their understanding, make new friends, and experience many new activities. Our programs are always a positive experience.
 
Adventures in Citizenship - Sponsored by the Rotary Club of Ottawa – May 3 - May 6, 2015.  We have 1 student spot reserved.  Students aged 16-18 are eligible.  Student needs to be selected by mid February and the name sent to Ottawa by March 6, 2015. Criteria for this program includes: excellent academic standing, leadership ability, community service with an emphasis on non-school related volunteering.  Being bilingual is also an asset for this program.  For more information, go to:  http://www.rotaryottawa.com
 
Adventures in Technology - Sponsored by the Rotary Clubs of Saskatoon April 27- May 1, 2015, this Adventure Program involves a four and one-half day exploration of advanced technology, research, development and applications. During their visit, students will be able to open the doors to an exciting array of some of Canada's finest corporations and research facilities, including the University of Saskatchewan, Innovation Place Research Park & the Canadian Light Source Synchrotron to name just a few. Grade 11-12 students are eligible.  Students need to be selected by early March and names sent to Saskatoon by March 14.  This program allows students to explore advanced technology, research, development, and applications.  For more information, go to:    
 
Adventures in Forestry and Environmental Studies - Sponsored by the Rotary Club of Prince George Yellowhead - May 6-10, 2015
1 student spot requested – High school students (grades 10-12) are eligible.  Student needs to be selected by April 11.  This program promotes an interest in careers in Forestry.  The program introduces students to a wide variety of careers in the forest and environmental industries.  Students spend 3 days touring Prince George sawmills, pulp mills, tree nurseries, reforestation sites, post-secondary institutions and other related points of interest.  For more information, go to:
 
 
Adventures in Tourism - Sponsored by the Ogopogo Rotary Club Kelowna – March 29 – April 3, 2015
1 student spot requested – High achieving high school students ages 16 - 19 are eligible.  During their intensive program, participants will be given unprecedented behind the scenes access to the inner workings of an exciting array of some of Canada’s leading destination resorts, golf clubs, wineries and First Nations.  The students will also be treated to the very best hospitality, being welcomed into Rotarian homes for the duration of their stay.
 
RYLE, Rotary Youth Leadership Award
Date: April 30 - May 3, Camp Nakamun
RYLE, also known as Rotary Youth Leadership Experience, is a 4-day leadership conference focusing on empowering Rotary youth across the communities of District S370. Set in Camp Nakamun, a relevant and exciting curriculum is planned for RYLE delegates, which includes guest speakers within the Rotary community, and workshops to develop soft skills and encourage leadership and volunteerism.

RYPEN, Rotary Youth Program of Enrichment
Date: May 14-18, 20 IS Jasper Palisades
RYPEN (Rotary Youth Program of Enrichment) is a four-day camp designed for young people who want to grow. RYPEN camps are for youth who have limited opportunities to attend leadership development programs.
