Supporting Community Transformation: Change a lift - Impact a Community

What happens to old playgrounds? A decade ago, an old playground that is dismantled for a new and improved version would go to the garbage.  Now, there are ways of being good environmental stewards by refurbishing and installing these “old” playgrounds into communities that would never have the opportunity to enjoy them.

Lyle Johnson of the Emmanuel Foundation shared their work.  The Emmanuel Foundation is primarily devoted to the well-being and development of people, especially children, and communities in disadvantaged situations in developing countries.  The three arms of service for the Foundation are:

Play it Forward: Gathering, refurbishing, shipping and installing playgrounds to orphanages, schools and communities where children have no access to the benefits of developmental play.
Distribution Centre: Gathering medical, dental, and educational supplies and equipment, as well as sporting goods, clothing, food, and bicycles.  These items are then shipped to communities, ministries and NGO’s where such goods will aide them in the long-term benefit of those they serve.
Community Development: In certain situations, the Foundation sponsors specific projects, which also supports the long-term well being of children and those in need.

The Emmanuel Foundation is also a distribution center that collects and distributes goods that aid in sustainable transformation of a community.  This includes such resources as medical equipment for hospitals, dental and health clinic.  They also ship educational supplies to strengthen schools, as well as clothing for the poor, orphanages and relief areas.
