Holly Hastings is a career educator with a passion for helping individuals, organizations, and the public to learn and grow. Over her 30-year career she has worked in K-12 education, post-secondary education, public education and leadership development at the Province of Alberta and the City of Edmonton, as a private sector leadership development consultant.

Holly is currently the Managing Supervisor Waste Education and Outreach, leading a team of 55 environmental and operational educators. Her team is tasked with environmental education and environmental behaviour change projects focused on the City of Edmonton’s ambitious goal of diverting 90% of waste from the landfill. Holly and her team have been closely involved with the recent bylaw limiting the use of single use plastics, as well as the new cart program. She described the many initiatives her team has, all directed to reduce waste going to the landfill. For example, the city's composting programs and the Reuse Centres, and objectives to divert organic waste from the landfill.
