You might be wondering why I need notes to introduce my daughter. As Rena's mom, I do have an unfair advantage knowing many of the intimate details of Rena's life. These notes are designed to keep me on track and away from the embarrassing stories of Rena's youth. To get those, I would recommend a chocolate martini, which will work equally as well on the mother as the daughter. I should tell you that Rena inherited all her flaws from me, the most noticeable of which is the ability to cry at the drop of a hat, so be forewarned.

I do want to share with you why I believe Rena will make a good Rotarian, and to do that I refer to the four way test.

Is it the truth? I can tell you that Rena could not lie to save her soul. In fact, I know of only one occasion when she did lie. It was a white lie which was told to meet the third test - will it build goodwill and better friendships. To get the full story, remember the chocolate martini and ask about the wall of shame.

Is it fair to all concerned? We had a bit of problem identifying a classification for Rena. She had always defied labels. I toyed with proposing her classification as 'philosopher' as
Rena received her BA last year from the U of A, majoring in English and Philosophy. As Rena puts it, 'not your most marketable degree'. But if anyone is interested in discussing the four way test, particularly 'Is it fair to all concerned' and 'what makes it fair', she's your girl. Rena works as a project coordinator on a research project being conducted for the oil and gas industry by an engineering consultant, hence her designation as Project Coordinator - Research.

Will it be beneficial to all concerned? You may have noticed that Rena doesn't make decisions lightly, as evidenced by her lengthy approval process of our club. That's because Rena takes commitment seriously. She will bring the average age of the club down and the attendance up - in fact, I've heard that she already has better attendance than Jim Galpin. Rena wants to be an active member of the club and has already represented our club at the Churchill Debates and Brightview School Christmas Dinner. I would encourage committee chairs to tap into her youthful enthusiasm and recommend Rena Liviniuk.
