Five Rotarians and two spouses turned out as kitchen volunteers at Meals on Wheels today.
Five members of the Best Darn Rotary Club showed up at Meals on Wheels today along with two spouses.  We were welcomed and trained as kitchen volunteers while also learning something about this amazing organization.  It was a truly gratifying volunteer experience (they really know how to care for their helpers).  Broken into two teams, one squad helped portion and package roughly 500 individual meals.  The other team peeled and chopped 125 pounds of roasted beets.

At the end of our shift, the head chef Jason came over to thank us and to comment that we were an amazing volunteer team with good skills.  We set the standard for other Rotary Clubs.   He was amazed at what we had been able to get done.  As we were leaving, one of our participants said that she was going home with a 'real sense of accomplishment."

We agreed to have another go around the end of September.  One the way out we noticed a sign on the volunteer coordinator's door noting that in 2018 Volunteers contributed over 526,000 hours to MoW.
