Trend Setters...

Founded in May 1990, the Rotary Club of Edmonton Glenora was the first club in North America to be chartered by professional women. This was one year after the U.S. Supreme Court decision permitting women to be admitted as members of Rotary Clubs around the world. The founding President of the Rotary Club of Edmonton Glenora, Vi Becker, was inspired to demonstrate the integral contribution that women from all professions could make to Rotary's core principle of Service above Self.

We began with 25 women. During the first year of its existence,  our club found its niche within the Rotary family and identified its strengths and goals. We had no interest in reverse discrimination, and in 1992, began seeking both male and female members.

The Rotary Club of Edmonton Glenora celebrated its 25th Anniversary in 2015-2016. It has grown to be a club of vibrant and committed male and female professionals from the Edmonton area, and is an active partner with other Rotary clubs in Edmonton and throughout our Rotary District 5370. Our club has set its service focus on women and children in need. We apply this strategic focus liberally and contribute to a variety of initiatives locally, nationally, and internationally.

On Saturday September 13, 2025 we celebrated our 35th Anniversary with a fundraiser for Bridge Healing, and a celebratory Dinner at Bison Lodge. Both were wonderfully successful bringing old friends and new together to celebrate our commitment for the years to come.
