Overheard at Breakfast on February 7, 2018
1. We had a disappointingly low attendance this week but it was a surprisingly great breakfast.
2. AL reported that our By Law review committee (including Elisabeth Bonkink, David Winfield, Doug McEwan, Tony Thibadeau and David Keam) have started their work on reviewing our by-laws.
3. Agnes Fisher told us about the Edmonton Reuse Center (met this week at the new Whitemud Equine Centre.
The Reuse Centre accepts various items from Edmonton residents free of charge and makes them available to organizations and individuals for reuse. The Reuse Centre is unique as it deals with items that are not accepted for reuse elsewhere.
The Centre has three main goals:
To promote the idea and benefits of reuse
To provide affordable items to organizations and individuals
To divert waste from landfill
Agnes circulated a list of the stuff that the reuse centre will accept. For more information visit their website (https://www.edmonton.ca/programs_services/garbage_waste/reuse-centre.aspx )
4. Ed was responsible for fines this week and he initiated a “table joke contest”. We were treated to a number of “Dad Joke” groaners followed by a decidedly “adult” (and slightly “politically incorrect”) joke by David Winfield.
