Overheard at Breakfast on March 14, 2018 - We had decent attendance this week.
- Kathe Debenam from The U of A Rotaract reported that their Project Water fundraiser at Mckay Avenue school and Archives was a great success. Despite miserable weather they had a great attendance and raised almost twice their goal. They will use the funds raised to dig a well in Nicaragua and to send some Nicaragua students to University.
- Lorne Parker reported that the Porcelain Prison project was also a great success. They raised more than $10,000 more than their target and the washroom construction at our Xia Xia school will be completed (and expanded). Thanks to all involved. Special thanks to Kylie and David Keam.
- Lorne Parker will be leaving for Mozambique on April 10. He will stop in South Africa to ick up school supplies. He would appreciate any personal contributions that our members can provide.
- Our curling team was the Cinderella entry at the District Curling bonspiel. Congratulations to them on their surprise 2nd place finish.
- Our member and Casino organiser, Mark Deladurantaye is leaving next week for Jamaica where he is getting married!! Congratulations Mark.
- Our speaker this week was mark Hall from the City of Edmonton. Mark gave us an update on the Blatchford Field development. He expects that residential construction will commence next year.
