Fines-master David Keam gave another entertaining fines master quiz. Coincidentally, all of the questions had the same, Thanksgiving themed, answer. Our speaker this week was Heather McPherson. Heather is the NDP candidate for Edmonton Strathcona. Heather gave an very informal and interesting presentation. Some of the highlights; - Heather has a great deal of experience and expertise in the international; aid community. She was involved with the Alberta Council for Global Cooperation for many years. In fact here first overseas mission was to Mozambique;
- Heather was the Alberta delegate to the UN on sustainable development;
- She said that the objective of the NDP is not to shut down Alberta’s oil industry but rather to prepare us for the new green economy;
- The NDP has committed that they would not shut down the Trans Mountain pipeline as a condition of forming a coalition government with the Liberals. It would, however, seek implementation of universal pharmacare and dental care coverage for low income Canadians.
