We had a great turnout this week. Zanib Pannu, our last scholarship recipient this week joined us for breakfast and shared a little of her education plans with yus. David Keam advised that he will be joining Gary Smith on the Dreams Take Flight trip this year. They will be leaving on the morning of September 18. Once again they are asking our members to show up at the airport around 2:00 am to direct the participants and their parents to the US departure gate. Please mark your calendars and try to come out. It is a great experience (even though it robs you of a lot of sleep). Robust Reds Update: - Only 5 weeks to go until the event (September 28)
- We are looking for silent auction items. Please try to get them in asap (It makes Pat’s job a lot easier)
- We need help selling tickets;
- We are asking everyone to donate a bottle of wine for the wine draw. If you have not already done so please bring a bottle to the next meeting (or give $20 to Lionell and he will provide one for you)
Our Cindy reported that her school (McKay school) will be hosting an Anne Frank exhibit. She is looking for volunteers. Our speaker this week was Minister Amarjit Sohi. Amarjit gave an interesting (per election) presentation. He talked about the record of our Liberal government. He mentioned; - Tax cuts
- Child tax benefits;
- Infrastructure investments
- Purchase of a pipeline.
We had an interesting discussion about pipelines and “creeping bigotry and hate crimes. I thought that our members were very hospitable to Amarjit |
