Overheard at Breakfast on September 4th 2019 Our condolences to Gary Smith and Tereena Morelli. They both lost their fathers. Judy Wilson was in a motor vehicle accident. She is recovering from her injuries. Get well soon Judy. We need volunteers to see off the Dreams take Flight kids and chaperones (including our own David Keam and Gary Smith) on the morning of September 18. If you can join us please email me so we can get an idea of how many volunteers we will have. Our club has signed up to plant trees on September 19. Please email Deb Jack for details and to let her know that you will attend. Our guest speaker was Matt Jeneroux. Matt is the Conservative Member of Parliament representing Edmonton Riverbend and the current Shadow Minister of Infrastructure, Communities & Urban Affairs. Matt was in pre election mode and he talked about; - Climate Change - He said that climate change is debateable but he believes in it. He does not think that a carbon tax helps to address the issue. He believes that the answer is through technology, tax credits for patents and dinner will be on May 2nd. Please contact Ken for tickets.
- Pipelines – He is pessimistic about the trans mountain pipeline construction. He does not share the Liberal’s optimism.
- Abortion rights – Matt is personally pro choice. The conservative platform provides that the party will not introduce legislation that would restrict a woman’s right to choose but if such legislation is proposed they would allow their members to “vote their conscience”.
Thanks to Matt for an interesting and important presentation |
