I observed while enjoying our meeting this week that;
- we used to greet members with “Good Morning” at our in person meetings. Now we say “Hey, you are muted”.
- we used to talk about the weather or the latest Oiler loss. Now we talk about Covid numbers and Covid restrictions
We had an interesting discussion about Rotary history and it’s positions on gender parity. Elizabeth assured us that significant progress in that regard is made by Rotary. Polio vaccines are largely administered by females in order to recognise cultural taboos in some of the countries. The majority of new members to Rotary are women. (I would want to see a geographical breakdown on this one)
Youth director, Jamie Pallet reported that Harry Ainley and Louis St Laurent are both nominating candidates for scholarship. He is having trouble finding an organization involved with adult literacy education to nominate a candidate. If you have a suggestion please contact Jamie.
