November 8 Speaker
Our guest speaker this week was Melanie Elhafid. Melanie is a member of the U of A Rotaract. Her family is from Ecuador. She visited Ecuador this summer and was introduced to a charitable foundation in a small village in remote Ecuador “Ecuador Fundacion de Desarrollo Communitario”
The foundation was founded by a lady in the village to provide support and assistance for senior citizens who are living in hardship in the area. Melanie spent time volunteering with the foundation while she was in Ecuador and she plans to return to work with that foundation during her summer vacation.
Melanie shared a video and told us about the Fundraising campaign the her and Rotaract Club are conducting to raise funds for the Foundation. They will be having a bake sale and raffling off an authentic Ecuadorian dinner for 8. We contributed $700 towards the cause.
