At least 13 of our members gathered downtown on Saturday morning.
We were fitted with gloves, grabbers and garbage bags and we set our to pick up trash in the Chinatown area.
It was a real eye opener for me. There was lots of trash but it was not the trash that had an affect on me, it was the stuff we found in the trash like novaxin kits and needles and the number of homeless people living in tents. I came away from the event feeling good. Not only did we clean up an area of town that is clearly neglected by the City and ETS (the worst spot we cleaned up was a bus shelter) but we showed people there that someone cars.
We had a great time and the consensus from the people I talked to was that we should do this again.
There is a rumour that a few of us may, or may not, have gathered for “tea” on a patio after the event.
