1. – 2021 Changeover Party
Our Club gathered on Thursday evening at Deb Jack’s new home to celebrate the 2020/2021 Rotary changeover.
The party was planned and hosted by Deb Jack, Trina Morelli and Judy Wilson. They did a fantastic job of planning and preparing a “Social Distance” evening. The food and drinks were fantastic and the fellowship was great.
Our President Elect (and current Foundation chair)
Community Chair, Deb Jack, announced that our club recently made a $1,000 donation to the Royal Alexandra Hospital Foundation – Teddy Bear Bereavement Program.  The Foundation does many wonderful things for the citizens of Edmonton.  One of them is their Bereavement Program.

There are two parts to this program.  The first is to provide a teddy bear to mothers who are leaving an Edmonton Hospital after losing her baby.  We’re sure you can understand the positive emotional support that this gesture provides to the mother.  Our donation was specifically earmarked for this portion of the program.  The teddy bears will also have our name on it.

The other part of the program is to provide a burial service for the babies whose parent(s) did not make these arrangements.  A number of local funeral homes and cemeteries provide the necessary materials and process including a none-denomination religious element to the program.

Elisabeth Bonkink started off the proceedings by presenting a Paul Harris pin to immediate past president Shannon Troke.
Elisabeth and Judy said that  goal for the Club this year will be to make every member a “sustaining member” with the Foundation (ie donate at least $100/year to the foundation.
Judy then presented a ceremonial vest to our new president Cindy Davis.
Cindy gave a brief outline of her plans and goals for the year;
  1. Primary goal for this year will be to support our members through the difficult pandemic times we are facing, maintain the Club. Our theme will be that we are family and our theme song is “We are Family”
  2. She plans, starting in September; to rotate our meetings each week as follows;
    1. First week will be an in person meeting @ Mckay school;
    2. 2nd and 3rd meetings will be virtual meetings via Zoom;
    3. 4th week will be a Pub night (at the Halo Pub)
It look like we are going to have an interesting year.
