The Rotary Club of Houston Skyline and friends joined with A Tale of Two Bridges to continue making the trailhead at Yale and the MKT Trail a more vibrant space.

We added native plants to the understory of the miyawaki forest we planted in February. We installed the bench and ada accessible picnic table that were part of our Rotary District 5890 grant project for the year, and cleared the grape vines that were blocking the view allowing for people to travel more safely.

Special thanks to Emmanuel and Dona for helping get today together!
Suzanne, Emily, Tom and Hannah thank you for helping us today!

Thank you to Emily for capturing photos for us this morning!

The Rotary Club of Houston Skyline and friends joined with A Tale of Two Bridges to continue making the trailhead at Yale and the MKT Trail a more vibrant space. When starting our 2025-26 grant projects we visited with the local organization A Tale of Two Bridges who has been successfully building partnerships with both the community and city to plant trees on the MKT Trail, as well as other pedestrian safety advocacy. In our discussions, we asked how we could help add to the work they're doing. Our first round of projects were about maintaining the current trees, while also discussing placemaking for the community. We decided that a space to sit and relax before either continuing on the trail or cross the street was going to enrich a space that the community actively uses. We assisted in also planting 50 trees, and dozens of shrub and ground cover plants to help beautify and break up the Texas heat on the trail.
