Steve Bartos told us that this is second time at a Rotary meeting. About 62 years ago he attended a Rotary luncheon with a friend and today he has made it a second time for a Rotary luncheon. Steve worked for the Department of Roads (today it is the Department of Transportation) for about 45+ years. Steve is very active in the American Legion. He told us about the "Forty and Eight."

One of my favorite authors is Jon Meacham. I have several of his books and have had the privilege of hearing him speak on two occasions, one here in Lincoln and one in Williamsburg Virginia. I am going to copy from his book “American Gospel” and his depiction of Dr. Martin Luther King’s speech in the National Cathedral in Washington D.C. It has significant religious overtones, for which I make no apology, knowing that Rotary is an organization which has no religious test for membership, and Rotary International has members who are Christian, Muslim, Hindu, Agnostic, Atheist, and perhaps Pagans. I believe this speech has a message for more meaningful than the religious application he makes.
