Notice - Changes!

NOTICE!!

Lincoln East Rotary Club is going virtual until the first of the year, then we will be evaluating if we continue virtually or in person meetings!  There will be NO MEETING on Wednesday, November 25th because of Thanksgiving.

There will be NO MEETINGS on December 23 and 30 because of Christmas and New Years.  We will not have a Board meeting in December.  Hopefully things will turn around for us in 2021.

Please check the SPOKE about how you can contribute to Polio Plus (under our Polio Plus heading).

Good Neighbor Community Center

In 1973, the Seventh-day Adventist Churches of Lincoln saw a need for basic and emergency services in our community. They founded the Good Neighbor Community Center. Over the years, we have provided emergency food, clothing and household items in a kind, understanding environment. Each client is personally welcomed and encouraged to participate in our programs. Their passion is not only assisting individuals with basic and emergency needs but also giving them opportunities to build bright futures for their families and the entire community. In 2003, Good Neighbor Community Center was duly incorporated under the laws of NE state and we are now collaborating with like-minded organizations, schools, businesses, churches, and individuals in Welcoming Neighbors and Supporting Stability.

President's Message

Lincoln East Rotary Club

At our Wednesday, 11/11/20 meeting, we honored Andrea Ahrens as it was her birthday.  Yeah!!!  One of Andrea’s colleagues (Lonnie) attended our meeting to honor Andrea’s birthday and to honor the speaker as he serves on that Board.  We also honored Steve Grosserode as it was his 99th birthday.  Did you all see the really nice picture of him in the paper Sunday?  Our members have been busy.  Duane Tappe, Paul Horton, Greg Schnasse, and Lyle Schoen assisted in raising flags at the Veterans’ Memorial Park on Monday.  They’ll assist in taking them down on Saturday.

Our members participated in doing a SWOT Analysis of the Club’s Strengths (S), Weaknesses (W), Opportunities (O), and Threats (T) a little over a month ago.  We reviewed the results of this analysis at our meeting.  We can’t do anything about some of the threats during the pandemic, but we felt that a commonly identified weakness was not always having a speaker for our club meetings.  So, we decided to redouble our efforts to always try as hard as we can to get a speaker for our meetings.  That will be both harder and easier in the next 2 months as we meet virtually.  Some speakers prefer virtual and others prefer in person.  However, we’ll reach out and do our best.  Please contact a Board Member if you have a suggestion for a speaker and we’ll F/U if you can’t.  Thanks so much!

"The formula for a successful relationship is simple.  Treat all disasters as if they were triviaities, but never treat a triviality as if it were a disaster."  (p 96, Quotable Quotes, 2016)
