Steve Glenn

Steve was born in Pawnee City, NE, and played football for Tom Osborn, graduating in 1978. Steve Started Executive Travel in 1986 and has grown it to become one the of largest privately owned travel agencies in the US. Steve has continued his entrepreneurial drive by building five hardware stores (Glenn's True Value), Headwind Consumer Products, and Robert Allen Home and Garden.

In March, Brian and Steve partnered up again to build Operation Safe Harbor Ukraine, with nothing more than a credit card, and the idea to rent 50 rooms in a hotel for a month. In less than two weeks, the duo had booked the hotel, created the website, secured a non-profit conduit for donations, and begun fundraising. Now, four months in, the program has helped approximately 700 refugees find safe harbor from the war in Ukraine, many finding permanent housing after receiving care at Hotel Felix in Warsaw, Poland.

Paul Jasa

Paul Jasa gave us two different presentations.  His first presentation was about Meals for Nurses. He started out telling us about his neighbor who is a nurse at CHI St Elizabeth and how he felt like doing something for that family on December 20th.  He loves to cook and so he fixed a brisket and crockpot of bean soup.  He knew he had more than enough, so he took some over to his neighbor who had been working long hours at the hospital because of COVID-19.  She appreciated it very much and told him that it happened to be their wedding anniversary and with restaurants closed down or limited service that was a great meal to have and she greatly appreciated it.

This started Paul thinking about the other nurses that worked with her neighbor and how they might enjoy a meal.  So, he starts working on those meals over the weekend and his neighbor takes them to the hospital on Monday to share with 4 or 6 people.  They have enjoyed a variety of different meals.

Rotary Reflections
Many years ago Carol and I were invited to go to Rome to attend an international religious liberty conference.  In Rome were impressed with the number of statues that seemed to be everywhere.  In ancient Rome being a sculptor was a popular job.  If your home didn’t have at least one statue of the Gods you were not considered in the main stream.
