Kristy is originally from Chicago, Illinois. She holds multiple degrees, including a Master of Education in Instructional Leadership, Masters in Management, and Master of Theological Studies. Kristy brings a life-long faith in Christ, and a passion for mentoring, leadership, and community development to her role at City Impact.
She loves City Impact’s focus on long-term relationships to cultivate rising leaders. Her dream is for City Impact alumni to run our organization one day, dedicated to growing the ripple of empowerment throughout Lincoln and Nebraska at large.
Tom Roper is a 4th generation in the same, family owned funeral business that has been serving Lincoln and its surrounding areas for over 120 years. Tom told us that Roper & Sons was started in 1901 when his Grandfather was asked by a funeral director about using his team of white horses to pull the ambulance, and hearse for the funeral home. Tom's grandfather became a partner in this funeral home, thus started Roper & Sons. Roper & Son was originally down town in Lincoln, and then they moved to a second location down town. In 1960 they moved to their location at 4300 "O" Street. Over the years, and more specifically since 2003, Roper and Sons has grown from its central location at 4300 O Street to five locations with the purchase of Metcalf Funeral Homes in Lincoln and Firth, a Waverly location and the addition of our newest location at 40th and Yankee Hill. Max Roper was a second generation that worked at Roper & Sons until his death in 1989.
It was one of those downtown churches. A drunk was standing in the side doorway. Didn’t really know where it led, so he stepped into the hall and he still didn’t know where he was, so he opened another door. And there he came out just off the platform, in front of the eye of every member in the congregation in worship. And the poor fellow, he was confused, and he was embarrassed, and he just blurted out, “What’s going on here?”

Even with the vaccine, we continue to keep all of our teachers, school officials, and students, EMT's and first responders, hospital doctors and nurses, supermarket clerks, restaurant workers laid off or furloughed and waiting for unemployment, all those who are currently unemployed, human service organizations who still are open to serve those poor/homeless/hungry, funeral home workers, churches, airline employees, hotel employees, gas station and convenience store workers.
