City Impact
Kirsty Goodwin told us that City Impact began with a weekly Bible Club in 1993 where it met in a home and later a church. In 1997 it became a full-time job when the Bryan’s started City Impact. It has grown into a fruitful epicenter for change, with programs and people who have transformed youth and their families. In 2016 City Impact built a new building on North 33rd street near the Peter Pan Park.
Mission:
City Impact is a faith-based, youth development non-profit in Lincoln, Nebraska. We mentor, teach, and empower under-resourced kids, growing them into leaders who break the cycle of poverty.

CITY IMPACT READING:
City Impact Reading is a relationally-based, volunteer-driven, intensive reading program which utilizes research-based curriculum and teaching techniques to get students at or above grade level in reading. Its vision is to empower all children, especially those most vulnerable, with the life changing benefits of literacy. City Impact literacy programs cultivate a love of reading in young students. We believe that readers become leaders! Students engage in reading through one-on-one tutoring, targeted literacy activities, and book clubs. There is about 90 young people who attend the reading program. Empowering under-resourced youth to personally know God and apply His Word to their lives.
CITY IMPACT FAITH:
Just as Jesus demonstrated in his ministry, relational discipleship reveals God’s love and truth. We walk with vulnerable kids and teens studying scripture and seeking God while providing safe and healthy community. They have at least 90+ young people who attend the Faith program. The purpose/vision is to see transformation in the lives to students as they become dedicated followers of Jesus. CITY IMPACT LEADERSHIP:
When kids see their peers leading, they become confident in their own potential to lead. The ripple of empowerment starts with youth leaders in our programs.
City Impact Leadership is a collection of programs and opportunities open to aspiring leaders, who are regularly attending and engaged with City Impact’s core faith programming.
Purpose/Vision: Our goal is to see youth empowered through understanding of their talents and strengths and equipped to be servant leaders in their community.
Students explore interests, discovering strengths and talents with the help of trusted mentors to guide them.
ABOUT CITY IMPACT MENTORING
Developing leaders are eager to dive into identity, learning more about themselves and others. We design opportunities for youth to gather and explore these questions in creative ways.
City Impact Mentoring is a collection of programs and opportunities designed to empower and equip youth, providing intentional support to growing leaders.
Gifts of Love:
For over 24 years, City Impact has provided Christmas with dignity to thousands of local families. The Gifts of Love Christmas store offers quality presents at an affordable price to families in need.
Gifts of Love 2021 has concluded. Thank you to the MANY community partners and volunteers who made this year an extremely successful Gifts of Love!
City Impact with the help of Scheels has a Gym & Fitness Center which is an elementary sized gym dedicated to promoting health and fitness in our community. Their funding is 80% from donors and 20% from grants. No person or student has to pay anything for the programs.
Kristy told us about some upcoming new programs and how they are partnering with different organizations to bring these programs to fruition. They are planning to launch a Math Program, expand Bible Class for Adults. They would like to create some new partnerships and new ways for funding.
They are working with Duncan Aviation to launch a flying school (Aviation program). They plan to partner with Southeast Community College’s Career Academy and Culinary Programs. Kristy also said they are working on a Capital Campaign in 2024 to finish the second floor of their current building.
