Dr. Mark Balschweid is Professor and Head of the Department of Agricultural Leadership, Education and Communication (ALEC) at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL). His background includes teaching secondary agricultural science for seven years emphasizing the interconnectedness of science in agriculture. He obtained his Ph. D. from Oregon State University and examined the role of enhancing science instruction in secondary agriculture for pre-service teachers as his dissertation research.
Joe Roberts told us about the Rotary International Foundation, which was started in 1917. Rotary truly is a premier international service organization. As Rotarians, we see solutions to challenges in our communities, and we take action to bring those ideas to life. One of the benefits of being a Rotarian is access to funding from The Rotary Foundation to create meaningful grants both here in your community and elsewhere in the world.
It is a Foundation for Rotarians — it funds grants that are created by Rotarians, and it is supported solely by voluntary contributions from Rotarians, like you, and friends of our Foundation who share its vision of a better world.
We were so excited when we got the exam results for our first graduating class of Primary 7 students, and found out that they all passed in the top two divisions! We had 16 total candidates taking their final exams to graduate to secondary school. Two of those students scored in Division 1 and 14 scored in Division 2.
The motto of Rotary is: "Service Above Self." So stepping-up to help as a Cashier or Host for Speakers are needed as follows: Cashiers for March, and June, and as a Host for speakers in May. If you happen to know someone who might like to come to speak to our Rotary Club anytime, please don't hesitate to check with the Club Administrator to see who is hosting and you will be put in contact with the proper host to see what dates are available. The Annual Salute to Business is an event sponsored by the Rotary Clubs of Lincoln to honor a business for providing employment and community support. This year's honoree is TMCO. This event will be held on April 28, 2020 at the Cornhusker Marriott Hotel, doors will open at 11:30 am and the program will start at 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM.
Thank you to everyone who contributions in support of eradicating polio around the world. Our goal for 2019-2020 is $1800.00. To date we have collected $1,460.00. We collected $33.00 for our Happy Dollars on February 19, 2020.
The Rotary Foundation is not to build monuments of brick and stone.
