Donna Gustafson spoke to us about how you could take a photo and let it tell a story.  Donna started taking pictures when she was quite young and they were of her pets.  She took those pet photos (black and white) and entered them in the County Fair.  Later she started taking photos of her children for Christmas Cards and eventually she decided she wanted to continue taking pictures.  She has had no training, except learning from two other photographers and other individuals.  She learned to post some of these photos on websites, but before doing those websites, she needed to invest some money to purchase some good photographic equipment.
She told us that you can take some really good photos with cell phones today and download them into apps that will help you filter out certain things or let you crop what you just want for your photo either from the computer or the cell phone.
Donna likes to capture photos of nature.  She showed us some photos of birds that are around only in the winter and how they actually can tell a story about what they do and eat.  She showed us a photo of three turtles with one whose head was turned one way, she took that photo and did some editing and had all three turtles with their heads the same way.

Many times, you can be at the right spot at the right time to capture something humorist, or something just plain beautiful.  Those photos can tell a wonderful story to an individual as they look at that picture.  Donna uses a micro camera to catch the little insects, and a zoom lens to capture other pictures.  She mentioned that you need to always look at the composition of that photo to see what you have captured and how it tells the story of that photo.

Remember a photo is worth a thousand words!
