The Buzz – September 28, 2015   By Ray Hook

  1.         President Tony called the meeting to order at 11:45 am. Today is a Club Assembly

  2.        There were no guests today.

  3.         Health of the Club – No report

  4.        Announcements   -  Thank yous were given out by Tony for all those who helped the two work parties at the Women’s Shelter and the Butterfly Park.

5. Greeters. Don R and Ken D called for happy bucks – responses from Randall, Jim R, Leroy, Donna, and Bonnie.

 6. Business Portion – Club Assembly.  President Tony briefly reviewed His “To Do List” from his Inauguration speech, focusing on his first two priorities:

           a.    Make Club committees more active; and

           b.    Get members more involved in Committees.

    He followed this up with a detailed review of the Club’s organization chart and all committee structures and membership. There are several committees that will need volunteers to step up, and some spots were filled today by Club members.

  Those committees requiring members or Chairpersons are as follows:

  1. Chair – Program Committee  (Tyler stepping down to focus on Youth Services)

  2. Club Historian – this position was deemed VERY IMPORTANT to our Club’s corporate memory!

  3. Chair Fundraising Gala – Dam Mac will be stepping down when he assumes the Club Presidency next summer.

  4. Small Projects Fundraising Committee – David Samm volunteered for the committee.

  5. Group Study Exchange – Donna and Leroy volunteered.

  6. Polio Plus – Jim R “stepped up” to assume this chair.

  7. Rotary Friendship Exchange – Ray and Donna will take this on this year – the job trraditionally goes to anyone in the Club who goes outbound on an RFE, to chair the committee for the inbound visit.

  1. Shelter Box – no volunteer yet.

  2. World Community Service – Roy W is chairing, Don Rebus volunteered.

  3. Aboriginal Affairs Committee – David S volunteered.

  If anyone else has any interest in the above committees (or any other committee), please advise Tony ASAP. He will be sending a copy of his presentation by e-mail to all members shortly, and it is hoped to attach a copy of the Club Organization Chart to this Buzz. (Ed note – Tony sent an e-mail with this info late last week.)

 7.         New Club Expenditure Policy – The Club’s Executive recently passed a revised Expenditure Policy, and it is briefly summarized below:

  1. For expenditures < $1000, and in the budget, the appropriate Service Committee may approve;

  2. For expenditures > $1000 and not in the budget, the item must be brought to the Club Membership for approval;

  3. If any budgeted item or project is expected to go over budget, then the Club Executive needs to be advised ASAP.

8.      The Rotary Cares draw for September was drawn and Brent Gotaas of the Bethany Group was the winner. The 50/50 winner was Randall, and because the deck of cards wasn’t located at this meeting, Randall will get the first draw next week. Randall then led the Club in the Four Way Test.

9.    The meeting was adjourned at 1:07 p.m.
